We have completed our latest project with haart – designing and building their new flagship website. haart is part of Spicerhaart, one of the UK’s largest and most innovative estate agency groups.
Spicerhaart chose us as they needed their property site to offer its users a unique, helpful environment for sellers, buyers, renters and landlords alike, without being overwhelming. Much of the development focused on building a flexible and personal experience for the user, with the aim of increasing the number of property enquiries, valuations and listings.
The haart website, built on the open-source content management system Umbraco, sports a host of features. We have upgraded the ‘my haart’ user dashboard which addresses a common source of frustration for sellers, by providing an area where they can see key milestones linked to their property.
Personalisation was of high importance for haart in the new build, as they wanted to provide their users with a unique experience compared to other estate agencies. For example, when you search for the area you are interested in buying a property in, you are presented with a local area image and the site remembers your search criteria, making it an easier and more pleasurable property finding process.
The property search now takes advantage of Google Maps and Elasticsearch, a powerful, scalable search engine technology. A user can search from any location available from Google Places – including schools, places of interest and transport links – then filter the results using many types of criteria. They can even prioritise their results according to property features, such as a conservatory and garage, and see other close property matches, including those a little further away.
New tools include a Demand Calculator, which shows how many people are interested in a property, as well as their status. This market intelligence tool is integrated with market-wide data, including asking and selling prices of properties in the area from other agencies. Prospective sellers will also be able to use the Calculator, for example to see how many people have looked at properties in their postcode and area.
The new haart website marks a milestone within a wider project, where we will now turn its attention to the group’s individual agencies and develop sites for the other brands within the Spicerhaart Group, before undertaking a corporate site redevelopment.

In addition to this work, we have also recently redesigned and built a new website for Spicerhaart’s children charity, Magic Moments Charity, which works to arrange memorable experiences and trips for children with life-limiting illnesses.
Spicerhaart was established 26 years ago, and operates five well-known estate agencies across the UK: haart, Darlows, Haybrook, Felicity J Lord and Chewton Rose.
