Google Webmaster tool kit important update - site performance
04-12-2009
This week Google Webmaster tool kit released the functionality which shows how quickly Google record page load times. As well as a breakdown of load times by URL, it also offers suggestions on how load times of poorly performing pages can be improved. This includes advice on page compression, external java script, DNS lookups and CCS improvements. Great!
It has always been thought that site performance is one of the ingredients within the ranking algorithm. But what does this new release mean; is site performance going to become a more important factor? We recommend reviewing this data for all of your sites and if the improvements are easily actionable, do them as soon as possible.
