Digital communications agency Redweb combined the business goals of each website in both English and Welsh, improved content management, provided a new hosting environment and produced a contemporary looking site that did not look like a Government website.

Until 2005 the CRB had operated two separate websites, the first designed and maintained by Redweb since 2001. The first focused on the CRB as an organisation while the second detailed their primary service, the issuing of Disclosures.

Redweb designed and developed the new website integrating an Immediacy content management system. The integrated templates were built using W3C web standard XHTML and presentational CSS which achieved Level 3 disability compliance.

Immediacy was selected as it offered a WSIWYG editor interface and inbuilt modules to comply with government standards such as eGMS. In addition, the editor featured an accessibility checker to assure content subsequently added by the CRB did not compromise the website´s DDA rating.

The site also met the needs of the previous users of both old sites through improved information architecture and navigational techniques.

The need for potential applicant organisations to consider the use of a 3rd party was dealt with by strong calls to action and an interactive Umbrella Body database.

New managed servers and firewalls were commissioned in conjunction with Redweb´s hosting partner Mistral Internet.
