Poole web developer Redweb has produced a website for a unique tennis and golf academy in East Sussex. Windmill Hill Golf and Tennis Academy is the only residential academy in the UK to cover both sports and wanted to update its ageing website to be more interactive for visitors and to increase back-end efficiency in e-marketing.
Redweb’s design helped attract 3,000 visitors to the site in its first two weeks in aug and now enables the academy’s regular e-newsletter to be generated and sent to over 2,000 people in just a few minutes.
Commercial director Gary Hargraves, who was managing director of Brentford FC for five years up to 2003, said: “The new website is graphically far more attractive, more interactive and it makes us more efficient at e-marketing.
“It also enables us to track where each enquirer read about us, which is vital marketing intelligence for our business - previously we weren’t able to monitor anything.
“Although it is primarily an information-based website, it has allowed us to easily launch into e-commerce with an online shop for tennis and golf equipment, which we have plans to expand.”
Windmill Hill provides coaching holidays to improve golf or tennis skills and boasts its own onsite hotel - a former Georgian mansion on the East Sussex Downs - and eight coaching professionals.
Alongside the nine-hole practice golf course, tennis facilities include eight outdoor grass courts, four indoor courts, four floodlit outdoor courts on synthetic grass, two outdoor hard courts, video analysis and eight full-time coaching professionals.
It has attracted famous guests such as Sir Cliff Richard, Ian Hislop and DJ Mike Reed.
