The new site incorporates online features such as rent payments, viewing planning applications and sports centre bookings.

Charlie Mancini, website co-ordinator at Purbeck District Council said: “Our old website was four years old and over that time had grown considerably in terms of the number of pages.

As a result it was groaning under the pressure and it wasn’t easy as to use as it could have been. The new website rectifies those problems and now has a number of enhancements that bring us up to date with the latest website technology”.

“Its has taken us four years to fully e-enable all of our services under the Government’s e-government agenda. Some of the services like providing information were easy to achieve, but other services took much longer to implement as the back office systems had to be developed to support the web front end’.”

Redweb’s design and production was completed in partnership with the Council’s own website team and was funded by an e-Government grant.

The launch of the site was timed to comply with a Government deadline for all UK council websites to meet standards for ease of use by the general public.

Redweb modernised and reorganised the site to include new features such as user polls for online research and ‘Register Your Event’ where local organisers can add event details.

There is also a new Community Forum for residents to share views, thoughts and ideas online concerning issues that affect them and the area where they live.
