The dotcom boom came, went and it's now in revival - but with one big difference, says Poole-based digital communications agency Redweb.
Managing director Andrew Henning said: “Now clients are far more knowledgeable, they’re aware of what they require for the results they want - and they understand what type of suppliers can deliver those results.
“Small companies might still be dubious about how the internet will work for them, but at corporate level they are fully aware of its potential and they are exploiting it to the maximum.
“They don’t have to be convinced that a website is the right way to go, they just have to be convinced that the company they are choosing to develop it can deliver their expectations.”
Redweb doesn’t just build websites but also provides online marketing, search engine optimisation, pay-per-click, e-marketing, intranet and SMS.
Andrew said: “It’s the whole digital mix - you can’t just look at one element in isolation these days. We’re being innovative and trying to do things better than competitors to gain market share.
“Some companies will only design a website based on what the client has asked for, rather than looking at the business case for it, researching the audience’s needs for the website, looking at objectives and goals. We will also provide competitor and audience analysis - why would you launch a website without first showing it to a client base?”
