The annual competition praises the best digital design work produced by students nationwide aged between 13 and 18.

BIMA is the industry association representing the interactive media and digital content sectors. The Schools Digital Challenge 2009 set applicants the task of devising a digital solution to provide a practical benefit for their community. Redweb designed the striking event logo, an email invitation and online banners before the event and certificates and posters for the ceremony itself.

The event was attended by key industry leaders and the six finalist schools each gave a ten minute presentation before fielding questions from the floor. The applicants were judged by a panel of experts prior to the event and prizes included studio tours at the Sky offices and Xboxes courtesy of sponsors Microsoft.

Mirage Islam, Chair of Education and Innovation Group says, "BIMA are fully committed to not only inspiring future talent but also creating opportunities both commercially and for education purposes. Our aim is to build on the success of this initiative and ensure creativity and innovation is at the heart of our activities. We selected Redweb as our design team for their exceptional creativity and inspiring work. We would also like to thank, Microsoft, Sky and Contagious Magazine for their support and prizes."

Andrew Henning, CEO at Redweb and BIMA executive added, "The BIMA executive board feel it is crucial to encourage and nurture the young talent that is emerging from schools and bridge the gap between schools and the digital media industry. We have been highly impressed with the outstanding standard of work at this year’s event and the enthusiasm shown by both teachers and students. It was rewarding to see schools embracing new technology in their ideas and getting excited about digital media."

Redweb will increase involvement in next year’s event with greater publicity and engagement of the digital industry.
