The challenge
To develop an online presence which has resonance with it's wide member base, attract new members and integrate the re-brand.
The approach
With over 2 million members across the UK and Ireland, this is a big communications challenge. Over the 5 years we have worked with Unite, we have become an embedded part of their team and that has helped us develop the kind of messages with the appropriate online tools to appeal to such a diverse member base. It needs to appeal to members today and provide value for membership as well as attract a new wider audience with changing demographics.
Consequently we have been involved in developing this site at many levels. Some of these include, ongoing site development and maintenance, setting up an online community forum, multimedia, video and podcasting, on petitions, information architecture and secure member areas right through to developing a micro-site for Glastonbury in 2007.
The result
Up to 50% of membership applications come through online so reducing cost and administration within the organization. Such efficiencies ensure that members’ money can be channeled to areas that can benefit them more directly.
