Criminal Records Bureau

The challenge

We were asked to build a stand alone site which met the stringent AAA accessibility standards required by the government.

The approach

Once we had agreed the objectives and requirements for the site, the site was built adopting the methods we have come to expect from a fully accessible website. There is full, variable volume audio available throughout, the ability to enlarge fonts to improve visibility and all text links are written so that they make sense when read out of context.

We host the site and provided a CMS via Immediacy which allows the client to make edits without impacting the accessibility standard. We provide ongoing account management and run projects as they arise. This summer saw the release of a flash based video on the application procedure for a CRB check to help job applicants understand what is involved and why it takes the time it does. This is now available to download from the home page.

The result

The site is due to be awarded the RNIB “See It Right” accreditation.

Who is the Criminal Records Bureau?

The CRB help organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable to work with children or other vulnerable members of society.

Screen shots of the Criminal Records Bureau website designed by Redweb

Redweb have been a pleasure to do business with and I believe that this is largely due to the openness and honesty of personnel and their “can do” attitude when faced with changing customer requirements.
